Eastern Bay teenager injured in shallow dive

A 16-year-old is recovering in Whakatane Hospital with suspected spinal injuries after a diving accident at Torere.

The teen injured his back after diving into shallow water late yesterday.

The Rotorua-based Bay Trust Rescue Helicopter was called in to airlift the young man to hospital.
