Two Eastern Bay clubs entered in the New Zealand Sportfishing Council Nationals are in the top ten.
The latest results have Te Kaha Sport Fishing Club sitting at sixth and Whakatane seventh.
Waihau Bay is coming in eleventh.
The points are taken from the top three fish caught by each of the 34 teams, with all three local teams having slipped down the rankings yesterday, which Te Kaha started in fourth place.
In addition, the Whakatane team on board the "Pursuit" is winning the yellowtail calculation.
The tournament, which allows anglers to fish anywhere off New Zealand's coast, began on the 18th, and finishes tomorrow.
