More strikes at plant near Te Puke

Rangiuru meat workers have decided to take industrial action against Affco, in the wake of failed negotiations.

Lock outs have this week occurred throughout North Island plants - with workers having enough and agreeing to strikes, overtime bans, and refusing to train new employees.

Meat workers union secretary, Dave Eastlake says those not locked out, feel sick some of their comrades are.

He says they've decided to have a further stoppage next Monday and Tuesday, where the non-locked-out workers will strike in support of their colleagues.

He says they're not that happy crossing the picket line and going to work when their 'brothers' are locked out unnecessarily by the company.

Mr Eastlake says the employees are aware of the hardship it puts on families, so they want to try and bring a bit of commonsense to the situation, by getting the company to see they need to sit down and try to find a solution.
