National standards queries to be answered

Eastern Bay parents concerned about the new national standards are encouraged to visit their children's schools.

The New Zealand Education Institute is travelling through the Eastern Bay to talk about the standards and why schools should run a trial.

The Institute says that while most schools don't like the idea of the standards, the best thing to do is run a trial, to see if it could be effective.

Field Officer Rosalie Hallam says anyone with concerns should go to the talks at the schools today.

She says they're happy to talk to parents at any time to answer any queries about the standards.
