The official Moko-minders are hoping to keep the friendly dolphin in the Whakatane river during the Surf Lifesaving Championships.
Organisers of the four-day event have asked for assistance to keep Moko away from competitors.
Minder Kirsty Carrington is encouraging people to come down to the river this morning to show Moko some attention.
She says the more people there, the more likely Moko will stay, and avoid causing issues for the surf lifesavers.
