Kawerau's water supply is no longer being pumped with chlorine.
The chlorine has been going through the system for two weeks, to flush out a low level e-coli contamination.
It's believed that broken seals on a reservoir roof led to the contamination.
Kawerau District Council Manager for Operations and Services Tom McDowell says the water is now free of chemicals.
He says residents can again use the water for feeding animals.
