100 car batteries stolen

An Eastern Bay business has been burgled a second time.

More than 100 car batteries have now been stolen from the commercial premises on Whakatane's Commerce St.

Around 60 batteries were taken from where they were locked away behind the business in the initial incident.

Senior Sergeant Bruce Jenkins says the culprits have returned, and taken more.

He's asking second hand scrap metal dealers throughout the Bay to be on the lookout for a large quantity of batteries.
