A Bay of Plenty rugby team's been among the hundreds of thousands of people caught up in the Christchurch earthquake.
The Steamers have returned home, after a more eventful trip south than they intended.
The team had been asleep in their hotel, as they'd planned to fly out early, when the 7.1 magnitude quake hit at 4.30 on Saturday morning.
The team had lost to Canterbury 28-9 in the country's provincial rugby competition on Friday evening.
But Steamers Manager, Ross Everis says it's not the game that will leave a lasting impression on the players.
