PSA affected Mayors meet

Eastern Bay mayors have come together with their Western counterpart to discuss the damaging PSA disease.

Since its outbreak in 2010, the vine killing infection has wiped out 96 percent of Te Puke's gold kiwifruit, and has made its way out of the Bay.

Whakatane's Tony Bonne says the meeting allowed the local bodies to discuss what they can do.

Following a presentation by Kiwifruit Vine Health and Kiwifruit Growers Association, Mr Bonne says backing the industries helping growers, is the best thing for them to do.
