Concern over effects of prescription pain killer

There are calls for more information to be made available to Eastern Bay residents, about the possible side effects of a prescription pain killer.

A Whakatane woman says she was taking Paradex unaware of the dangers it posed.

Jeanette is recovering from liver failure, she says resulted from consuming too much paracetamol.

She says she was given little information about the drug and is calling on pharmaceutical companies to provide more information to practitioners.

Jeanette says sometimes she was taking them for days at a time, and when they ran out, she resorted to standard paracetemol.

She claims she was never told that taking the painkillers on a regular basis could cause liver failure.
