An Eastern Bay couple is organising a meeting to inform the public about work on State Highway 35.
Slips at Maraenui Hill, which shut the road for several days, are being repaired.
Work is being done on an old forestry route, to be used as a detour, but at the moment only light vehicles can get through traffic controls.
Resident Louise Allison says the community's angry about the closure, and confused about what's happening.
She says everyone's affected by the road because people are working in isolated areas, they have businesses there, or they have to get out of town for work.
Mrs Allision says the community wants to know what exactly is happening to the roads, not just for now but for the future.
