Jail for cannabis and firearms charges

A Bay of Plenty man will spend a year behind bars, after pleading guilty to cannabis charges.

Teremoana Te Amo, who lives near Te Puke, had been caught with seven cannabis plants, multiple rounds of ammunition and two firearms.

They've been uncovered during a police search of the 40 year old's home in March.

He'd earlier pleaded guilty to cultivating cannabis, possession of cannabis and two charges of unlawfully possessing a firearm.

He's been sentenced to a year's jail, in the Tauranga District Court.
