A call for "bird scarers" to be located away from houses is being described as impractical.
An Awakeri resident whose property neighbours a kiwifruit crop, says he can hear the devices over lawn mowers and televisions.
Brian Shaw is calling for the "bird scarers" to be banned within half a kilometre of a residence.
Peter Ombler from the Kiwifruit Growers Association says the request isn't practical.
He says the bird scarers obviously have to be within the block where the crops are affected, which won't always be 500m away from houses.
