Kathie Guy: 10-2pm

I’m definitely a “local” having lived here since I was 8yrs old. I’ve been with 1XX on and off since I was 16 – when I started through the Whakatane High School business enterprise “Radio Sunshine”. 

In the late 80’s, I moved to Hamilton and worked on 89.8 Kiwi FM and Country Gold Waikato … then I moved back. 

A few years later I joined Terry Casserly in establishing Radio Waipukurau … then I moved back. As I find radio to be like a magnet, so too I also find the Bay of Plenty – completely unmatched by any other industry or region in NZ.

Needless to say, living in the Tuna Capital of the World suits my passion for fishing. I also enjoy camping, gardening and “socializing”.

When I leave 1XX next, it will be to retire to the country life to raise more calves and go fishing during the week if I choose!
