Who are we?

We are Radio Bay Of Plenty Limited – one of the two remaining independently owned and operated radio companies left in New Zealand. We operate 3 local stations in the Bay Of Plenty region of New Zealand.
• Our parent station is One Double X (1XX) and is based in Whakatane. 1XX broadcasts to the Eastern & Central Bay Of Plenty on 90.5FM & 1242AM and on 93.0FM for Ohope Beach.
• Our second service is Bayrock - an album rock station which is also based in Whakatane. Bayrock broadcasts to the Eastern & Central Bay Of Plenty on 97.7FM, Ohope Beach on 99.3FM and Wanaka on 93.0FM. For more details about Bayrock click here.

• Surveys show that 1XX is the most listened to radio station in the Eastern Bay of Plenty.
• 1XX has a philosophy of community radio, a format of hot adult contemporary music, extensive news and local information.
• 1XX is a third time winner of the "Outstanding Community Campaigns" award at the New Zealand Radio Awards, most recently in 2000.
• 1XX's Regional News team won "Best News Story - Team Coverage" for the Eastern Bay of Plenty July 2004 Floods coverage at the 2005 New Zealand Radio Awards. The first time in over 6 years this award has gone to a privately owned radio station. The 1XX News team last won the award in 1987.
• The 1XX target audience is between 18 to 54 years (male and female).
• 81% (28,000) of all listeners tune to 1XX in any 7 day period.
• 1XX was established on 30th June 1971 and has consistently been Number 1 ihe Eastern Bay district ever since.
