Planned power outages causes concern
Norske Skog's concerned at the timing of planned power outages by national grid operator Transpower which have resulted in a big jump in the cost of electricity.
The Kawerau pulp and paper mill has been forced to stop production on several occasions recently because the spot price of electricity has risen too high for economic production.
The upper North Island power supply is already tight because of a drop in gas plant production.
Norske Skog's General Manager Steve Brine says the company accepts that Transpower has to carry out essential maintenance.
He says says the company's taken it up with Transpower but got nowhere.
