Armistice at the Whakatane Country Music Club

The Whakatane Country Music Club will be shifting its focus this weekend to commemorate the centenary of Armistice.

Graham Thomas, Spokesperson for the Whakatane Country Music Club, says the group's monthly concert falls on Armistice Day, so the club is asking members to prepare songs related to the war.

Mr Thomas says there's a long and important role of music in wartime, and many songs from the period have become classics.

He says they're asking concert goers to wear red and a poppy.

The concert will start at 1 o'clock on Sunday afternoon at the Caledonian Hall.
