More rain on the way for the Eastern Bay
Thirty-five millimetres of rain has fallen in the Eastern Bay in the last 24 hours, taking the month's total so far to 81 mills.
That's about on par with the historical December average, and well up on rainfalls in the previous two Decembers.
The rain began falling around midnight, with the heaviest downpour of 14 millimetres between 3 and 5 this morning.
Metservice says that should be the end of the rain for today but showers are forecast again tomorrow.
