Data usage on rise in Whakatane

Whakatane residents have some of the highest data rates per household in the country.

It's been proven through recent figures released by Chorus.

The data has shed a light on Kiwis’ online habits, showing the busiest days for surfing the net, as well as the cities consuming the most data and enjoying the fastest speeds.

Whakatane has been named in eighth place for highest data usage ahead of Lower Hutt and Napier.

Stats show each household in the town is using an average of 234GB.

Network Strategy Manager Kurt Rodgers says the big drivers for data use in 2018 have been highlighted as streaming and gaming.
