Confidence growing in Bay of Plenty economy

Growing confidence in the Bay of Plenty's economy has sparked more job vacancies, and the unemployment rate to decrease.

The news comes from the latest Westpac-McDermott Miller regional economic confidence survey -- finding 37 per cent of Bay of Plenty households expect the region's economy to improve in the next 12 months.

That's eight per cent more than the September quarter survey.

Westpac Industry Economist Paul Clarke says house prices have also picked up.
