Matata fire sparks reminder
A dune fire in Matata has sparked a reminder on the rules and regulations of lighting fires in open spaces.
Strong winds intensified what had initially been reported as a grass fire, into a blaze that spread throughout a large area in sand dunes at Matata.
Matata Volunteer Fire Brigade Deputy Chief Mark Hofert says the incident highlights the need for people to educate themselves on fire safety.
Mr Hofert wants people to remain cautious and follow relevant Fire and Emergency guidelines at all times.
