Toi te Ora heat advice

With temperatures across the Eastern Bay set to sizzle over the coming days, Toi te Ora is advising locals on how to beat the heat, stay cool and healthy.

Temperatures are set to climb to the high twenties and thirties across most of the week, and locals are being reminded to enjoy the heat but with caution.

Medical Officer Dr Neil de Vet says it's important to drink plenty of water, stay out of the sun and find shade where possible.

He's encouraging us to keep houses cool by opening windows, using air conditioning or fans if you can.

And if exercising or doing outdoor activities Dr de Vet says choose the early morning option or later in the evening when it’s cooler.
