Teenagers crime spree

A group of teenagers heading to Auckland have been held responsible for nine separate car-related offences over a three day period.

The crime spree began on Thursday when the teenagers attempted to steal a Subaru Legacy from Kakaharoa Drive in Whakatane, before stealing two Mazda's on Friday one parked at New World, the other on Jubilee Crescent.

The spree continued with the adolescents stealing two cars on Saturday which were later recovered in Taneatua.

Police apprehended one of the teenagers on Friday, while the other three are believed to be on their way to Auckland.

We're being reminded to not leave any valuables in cars, as vehicles that were stolen had wallets and other possessions inside.
