Alleged Opotiki Coastguard offenders apprehended
The alleged offenders behind a burglary at the Opotiki Coastguard have been apprehended by police.
Three people have been arrested, one has already appeared in court. An 18-year-old will appear in Opotiki District Court on October 3 and a 16-year-old will appear in Opotiki Youth Court on the 24th of October.
The burglary happened at the Wharf Street building on Monday afternoon leaving the club fleeced of a lot of rescue gear.
Some of the items included Coastguard Grab bags, handheld radios, a curved lightbar, a Samsung tablet, industrial torches, and money boxes containing cash.
Volunteer Ron Jones says the break-in was the result of a technical glitch, that has now been fixed.
