BOP company acquires medicinal cannabis license
It seems the Bay of Plenty is getting into the medicinal cannabis market.
Eqalis Research Limited is the first Bay of Plenty company to gain licences from Medsafe to grow medicinal cannabis.
The company plans to market a range of products aimed at improving the quality of life of New Zealanders suffering from chronic illness and pain.
Major investors include the founder of Comvita, Alan Bougen [BOO-GHEN] and the founder of BayGold kiwifruit Murray McBride.
Managing Director Greg Misson believes that their experience will be the key to building Eqalis into a Bay of Plenty success story.
He says they'll be ready to make and market their products when the cannabis legislation takes effect next year.
