Community rallies to help Eastern Bay school

There's been a good turn around from a bad situation.

Apanui School is on track to getting its senior playground fixed.

The playground was set alight on Guy Fawke's night and ever since, it's been out of service for school children.

But Principal Simon Akroyd expects this won't be the case for too much longer, with many community members offering to repair it as part of Operation Phoenix.

He says it's great to have many people across the community reaching out with help or even donations, regardless of whether they have a connection to the school or not.

Work to repair the playground takes place December 6 and 7.
