Tarawera Ultramarathon sold to Ironman

The world-renowned Tarawera Ultramarathon has wrapped up for another year, with thousands taking part.

More than two-thousand runners competed in the 20, 50 or 102 kilometre distances, or the 100 Mile Endurance Run.

The marathon is also now set to keep growing, after announcing the event has been sold to Ironman.

Founder and co-owner Paul Charteris says the new ownership will help the event to grow even bigger and better every year.
