Homes for Bay of Plenty families

The Public Housing Quarterly Report for December has shown 49 Bay of Plenty households have found a place to call home in the last quarter.

At the same time, more public housing is also being brought on to tackle demand.

Minister of Housing and Urban Development Phil Twyford says the Government remains adamant -- the best way to tackle the housing crisis is to increase supply.

In last quarter 22 more public housing places were made available in the Bay of Plenty.

Twyford says demanding for housing in the region remains a problem but says the Government is on track to build more public housing with 6400 new places being built in the next four years -- 275 of which will be in the Bay of Plenty.
