Boulder hits car west of Matata

One person has escaped with minor injuries -- after their vehicle hit a boulder west of Matata.

The Matata Siren sounded on Saturday night with two vehicles from the Matata Volunteer Fire Brigade dispatched.

Crews found a Swift ploughed into a boulder, dislodged from the cliffs above.

One person in the car suffered minor injuries, and the vehicle suffered significant damage.

The Fire Brigade kept the scene safe until an ambulance arrived, treating the patient at the scene while the car was removed from the road.
