Vigil brings Whakatane District together
Hundreds have gathered in Whakatane uniting together following Friday's tragic events in Christchurch.
Organised by the Whakatane District Council and held at Wharaurangi, local politicians, representatives from the local Muslim community and residents all joined together to show solidarity with New Zealanders who choose love and reject hate.
50 candles were lit to represent the 50 lives lost in the shootings.
Local Labour List MP Kiri Allan was there and says we stand together.
