Extreme Fire Danger
Residents across coastal areas in the Bay of Plenty are being warned of an extreme fire danger period currently in place.
The message comes from Fire and Emergency New Zealand who says the risk is due to very dry fire-fuels, combined with predicted winds and temperature conditions hitting today.
The conditions mean there is a strong potential for any fire to spread rapidly and become difficult to extinguish.
It's reminding everyone to take extra care with any activity that can create a spark or delay activities to when conditions are less extreme.
Fire crews and resources will be on alert throughout the entire Bay of Plenty area.
