Council calling on Opotiki creatives to apply for funding
The Opotiki District Council is calling for applications for funding from the Creative New Zealand Communities scheme.
Every year the government backed Creative Communities Scheme provides money for councils on a population basis.
Opotiki this year has about 11 thousand dollars to distribute.
The money is available to a range of groups and organisation involved in the arts at a local level.
Opotiki's deputy mayor Lyn Riesterer says the scheme aims to make more arts available to more people but ultimately its up to the community to come up with the ideas and make them happen.
Eligible projects could include art, dance, drama, literature, music, seminars, workshops and community art and cultural events.
Applications for grants in Opotiki close on the 10th of May.
