Awanuiarangi focussed on getting more rangatahi into nursing

A number of high school students have expressed interest in a new nursing programme being developed by Te Whare Wananga o Awanuiarangi.

The wananga already runs a successful nurse training programme, which include cultural aspects.

They had a 100 per cent pass rate last year.

Spokesman Dr Paul Anderson says now they want to target students who may not get enough NCEA credits to enter that course.

He says so far 15 young people from Whakatane and Rotorua have registered their interest.
