Kawerau leading BOP real estate

Kawerau continues to lead the way in terms of house sales in the Eastern Bay.

For some time now properties in the town have been in demand, and prices keep climbing.

The Real Estate Institute's latest survey shows nothing has changed.

Bay of Plenty spokesman Neville Falconer says homes in the town are very much in demand.

Despite the town’s sucess, the wider Bay of Plenty region had a 25 per cent drop in house sales during April.

The Institute has reported sales during the month were at their lowest level for five years.

Its survey has also shown not so many overseas buyers are playing in the Bay of Plenty property market at present.

Bay of Plenty spokesman Neville Falconer says while overseas buys have fallen off, there's plenty of demand from other sectors including first home buyers and investors.

He says these type of buyers generally buy within their own regions.
