Government pours $2.2m into Kawerau training programmes
The Regional Economic Development Minister plans to give the hurry-up to a Chinese company planning a wood processing business in Kawerau.
Shane Jones was in the town today to hand out more than two million dollars for three training programmes.
They all target young people currently not in employment, education or training.
The Minister says Kawerau has a lot of potential and is worthy of support from the Provincial Growth Fund.
He's now eyeing another industry planning to come to the town.
