Game of Thrones writer to muse in Eastern Bay?
The writer behind the Game of Thrones series is considering coming to the Bay of Plenty for further inspiration.
George RR Martin wrote the fantasy series A Song of Ice and Fire, which was turned into the television series Game of Thrones.
Mr Martin who has been invited to New Zealand by Air New Zealand to finish the series, has suggested that Rotorua change its name to Middle Earth.
He says a trip there would be on the cards if his next book The Winds of Winter is not finished.
He's also suggested that he be imprisoned in a cabin on White Island overlooking the sulphuric acid lake until the book's finished.
He has previously visited New Zealand, including Hobbiton, and White island.
