Matata triple fatal crash accused to face sentencing
The man accused of causing the deaths of three road workers near Matata will face sentencing this afternoon.
David Michael Cox, 46, entered all guilty pleas at Whakatane District Court in April for three counts of careless driving causing death or injury.
The charges are in relation to a crash on State Highway 2 near Matata on February 26th where three Higgins road workers were killed.
The men were working in a ditch at about 2pm, when Cox's vehicle collided with a parked Higgins truck.
The impact flipped the truck into the ditch killing the Rotorua men.
Today Mr Cox faces sentencing in relation to the charges.
It takes place at Whakatane District court from 2pm.
