Earthquakes related to May swarms at Whakaari/White Island
More weak earthquakes have been recorded in the Eastern Bay today.
The latest was a magnitude 3.7 quake at 10.30am.
It was located 50 kilometres north of Whakatane and was eight kilometres deep.
Earlier there were two quakes in the same general area.
One at 3.45am had a magnitude of 4.2 and was just five kilometres deep.

The latest quakes follow five recorded in the Eastern Bay on Monday.
GeoNet has confirmed the earthquakes are the same as the swarm in May and today’s activity is a reactivation of it.
It says the activity will continue for a few days.
There are no changes in volcano monitoring parameters or the level of volcanic activity at Whakaari/White Island.
