Teenagers arrested following spate of car thefts
A group of teenagers responsible for stealing eighteen cars in the Eastern Bay area have been caught by police.
Acting Senior Sergeant Mark van der Kley confirmed the news to 1XX - saying the five people involved were all under the age of eighteen, two of them were as young as fourteen.
Mr van der Kley says the teenagers were involved in three pursuits, and they stole a huge number of cars.
He says they're a small focus group - that's been causing a lot of problems for the region.
The most cars stolen were Mazdas, and the police will be working with youth agencies to try when it comes disciplining the offenders, and help the teenagers see the error in their ways.
