Burglaries down in Eastern Bay
There has been a massive drop in burglaries and car thefts over the last week.
Only three incidents have taken place over the last week in the Eastern Bay, compared to last week's twenty incidents.
This means burglaries and car thefts in the Eastern Bay are now down by about 85 per cent.
Police say a big reason for the decline, is last week's arrest of youth offenders who were alleged to have been responsible for most of the crimes in the area.
The three incidents that did take place include a burglary at Gateway Drive where an attempt was made to steal diesel.
The next day another burglary took place on Thornton Road with a hedge trimmer, brush cutter, weed eater, power washer and paint ball gear were all taken.
Then on Friday trees were taken from another Whakatane property.
