Kawerau Council to decide on new parking fines

Kawerau motorists who breach parking and freedom camping rules, could start to pay the price for it.

The District's Planning, Compliance and Capacity Manager has made a recommendation to implement an infringement regime.

If approved it would see the introduction of infringements on parking, warrants of fitness and registration offences launched in the town by December.

This would also include a 14-day compliance period, with infringements to be waived if compliance is achieved.

If the recommendation is passed Council would also immediately introduce a regime for a Freedom Camping Bylaw.

A decision will be made at full council meeting tomorrow.
