Kawerau dairy struck by robbers twice in same month

A dairy in Kawerau has had some bad luck in the last two weeks.

Galway Street Dairy and Takeaway has been targeted by thieves for the second time in less than a fortnight.

The dairy which sits at the corner of Stafford Street and Galway Street, was stormed by the offenders last night armed with hammers.

The incident happened at 8pm, and the offenders made threats towards the store owner.

Police say money and cigarettes were taken by the three offenders.

The first incident on Sunday September 15, involved offenders entering the dairy around 7.30pm.

They threatened the sole employee before fleeing on foot with a large quantity of cash and cigarettes.

Anyone with information about either robbery is asked to contact their nearest police station
