Parenting programme to launch in Eastern Bay
Seven million dollars is being poured into Eastern Bay mothers struggling with mental health and addiction.
The Health Minister was in town yesterday to announce the Eastern Bay will get a new pregnancy and parenting service.
It aims to help reduce stress on new mothers, minimise harm on their babies and benefit families in a holistic way.
The Bay of Plenty District Health board is the fourth to qualify for the programme, with other programmes currently operating in Gisborne, Hawke's Bay and Northland.
David Clark says about 100 mothers and their children will benefit in the region every year.
