Crash Blocks State Highway 33 Near Paengaroa

Police said State Highway 33 Tikitere to Paengaroa is closed near the intersection with Allport Road, due to a crash around 5am.

It said a truck and trailer unit rolled, fully blocking the road.

Police said the road is expected to remain closed throughout the morning while the scene is cleared.

Hato Hone St John responed with one ambulance, and assessed a single patient on scene.

It said they were transported to Tauranga Hospital in a moderate condition.

NZTA said a detour is in place via SH30, SH34 and SH2.
