Billyjoe was last seen on Sunday, 30 August, at around 2.00pm at his home in Ōpōtiki.
Police have informed members of the community that LandSAR will be initiating search and rescue efforts on Friday, 11 September.
The team will meet at the Mokopuna Ora building, behind the Ōpōtiki Police Station, at 8.30am, with volunteers.
A message to the community about the search said that volunteers with local area knowledge, bush skills and experience are welcome.
Anyone who can support the kaupapa in any way is encouraged to come along.
The search is being managed by Police and LandSAR, with all guidance and direction coming from them.
Police said enquiries are ongoing, and anyone with information or sightings is asked to report them immediately.
