Between 10pm and 5am on Thursday 12 and Friday 13 February, resurfacing work by NZTA is taking place on the SH30 bridge.
The road will be closed from SH30/Keepa Road roundabout, to the Landing Road/Hinemoa Street roundabout.
Throughout the day, temporary speed limits will be in place, and will remain until the chip has bedded, the road is swept and line marking repainted.
Traffic heading out of Whakatāne should detour via Valley Road and Tāneatua Road, onto SH2 to Pekatahi Bridge, then straight to SH30 Awakeri, and vice versa.
Those travelling northwest from Ōpōtiki need to go through Tāneatua township onto the Pekatahi Bridge, through to SH30 Awakeri.
NZTA are thanking motorists for their patience as this work takes place.
