Between 10pm and 5am on Sunday 22 February, resurfacing work by NZTA is taking place on the SH30 bridge.
NZTA said the work, which was originally scheduled for Thursday 12 and Friday 13 February will now take place for one night on Sunday 22 February.
The road will be closed from SH30/Keepa Road roundabout, to the Landing Road/Hinemoa Street roundabout.
Traffic heading out of Whakatāne during the night should detour via Valley Road and Tāneatua Road, onto SH2 to Pekatahi Bridge, then straight to SH30 Awakeri, and vice versa.
Those travelling northwest from Ōpōtiki need to go through Tāneatua township onto the Pekatahi Bridge, through to SH30 Awakeri.
NZTA are thanking motorists for their patience as this work takes place.
