Rob joined Rebecca for another busy week on the crime front, with a spike in attempted vehicle thefts, particularly targeting Toyota Hiluxes and Corollas. Some vehicles are even being taken from garages, so the reminder is clear - lock your cars and don’t leave keys inside, even at home.
There are also ongoing issues around the hospital area, with cars being broken into or tampered with, plus continued copper theft from sheds and vacant properties, including hot water cylinders being removed.
Rob also highlighted safety concerns at the Ōhope Hill / Hillcrest Road / Gorge Road intersection, where confusion over give way and stop signs has led to several near misses. With winter approaching, drivers are urged to slow down, watch for slippery conditions, and avoid distractions like mobile phones.
Finally, a reminder that firearms registration is now done online, and with hunting season approaching, to plan ahead, follow safety rules, and always properly identify your target.
