Crimeline with Constable Rob Jones

Wednesday, March 25, 2026

Rob joined Rebecca with a timely reminder to prepare for severe weather, urging locals to drive to the conditions, allow extra stopping time, and check in on neighbours as heavy rain approaches.
On the crime front, there’s been another busy week with vehicle thefts and break-ins, including cars targeted in both urban and rural areas — even from locked garages, reinforcing the message to keep vehicles locked and keys inside the house. E-bikes are also being targeted, even when secured, so investing in high-quality locks is recommended.
There were also reports of tools, tyres, and farm equipment stolen, along with ongoing diesel and petrol theft, which police expect to increase as fuel prices rise.
Rob also warned about the dangers of copper theft, after a recent incident where an offender was seriously injured while attempting to steal live electrical cabling — highlighting just how risky it is.
Overall, the message is to stay vigilant, secure property, and take extra care during the incoming storm.
Crimeline airs Wednesdays on 1XX.
