Crimeline with Constable Rob Jones

Wednesday, April 22, 2026

Rob joined Rebecca following another bout of wild weather, reminding everyone to be prepared for emergencies, look after neighbours, and have a plan — especially as we head into a potentially wet winter.
On the crime front, it’s been a busy week with vehicle thefts, burglaries, and diesel theft continuing across both urban and rural areas. Fuel is a major target right now — with incidents ranging from trucks and machinery to even a yacht being siphoned. Rob’s advice is to secure fuel tanks, use strong locks, install CCTV, and avoid leaving vehicles or fuel easily accessible.
There were also multiple reports of homes, containers, and businesses being broken into, along with several vehicles stolen, including one taken while the owner was out hunting.
On a positive note, police successfully apprehended four youth offenders linked to a stolen hospital vehicle after a pursuit out of town.
Rob also asked for any information relating to a recent gang-related altercation in Kopeopeo, encouraging anyone with footage or details to contact Police.
The message remains the same — stay vigilant, secure your property, and report suspicious activity immediately by calling 111.
Crimeline airs Wednesdays on 1XX.
